Julie's extensive experience in human development began many years ago providing mental health care in the community for West Yorkshire Social Services where she spear-headed the development of what was then an experimental assessment unit for vulnerable individuals living in the community. She also facilitated small group homes for adults requiring assistance in the adjustment from long term hospital residence to living co-dependently in the community.
After working in and studying every aspect of mental health, Julie qualified in three theoretical schools of professional therapy: marital counselling, therapeutic individual counselling and psychoanalytical hypnotherapy.
Having set up her own private practice in 1994, Julie has successfully created, developed and presented seminars and workshops on a variety of life skills themes which have influenced individuals to become committed to achieving optimal health and well-being in every-day life. Her methods of therapy have proved to be life changing experiences for many people who have greatly benefited from a comprehensive caring, holistic service, especially tailored to individual requirements.
In addition to her seminars and workshops, her achievements include: -Providing a therapeutic counselling service from 1994 to present -Being the author of self help therapy courses and relaxation therapy audiotapes in stress management and life skills.
Her Key Skills are: - An innovative approach to taking a concept idea and developing it into a service or training package. - Being flexible in meeting a variety of individual needs from an academic level through to learning difficulties. - Having the ability to deliver development programmes that empower the individual’s efficiency.
Julie continues to develop her private therapeutic practice, using her 30 years+ experience in social care which ranged from being responsible for setting up and developing a crisis intervention unit for the elderly at risk in the community; teaching young adults with severe learning difficulties practical living skills to providing child care and personal development for children with behavioural and learning difficulties.
Her theoretical orientation is primarily a psychodynamic focus that is hinged upon a client centred philosophy.
