Steve Richardson - Training & guidance on implementing the Disability Discrimination Act 2001 (DDA) & the Special Educational Needs Act 2001 (SENDA) and he provides consultancy services on the implemention of Disability & Equal Opportunities legislation.

Steve also offers training & consultancy packages focused on increasing accessibility and participation of clients to goods and services offered by statutory services, voluntary organisations and the business community, in line with government legislation and educational curriculums.

He can provide specialist nationally qualified facilitation to organisations working with young people and disabled clients as well as:

- Disability training and development & Policy development
- Mentoring / Coaching with young people or staff teams or individuals
- Research/Consultation based within Community /Schools / colleges.

Steve’s twenty-three year career history has been significantly based within large local authority settings and he is experienced in working with local, regional and national organisations. This knowledge has enabled him to develop a detailed understanding of how large organisations function and the sometimes lengthy processes involved in instigating change, for example introducing new or amended disability legislation or accepted work practices which form the basis of Good Practice guidelines.

In terms of disability issues, as a disabled employee within the public sector, Steve has had first hand experience of the challenges that face disabled people in gaining full access and equality of opportunity. He believes he has put these experiences to positive use in learning how to implement significant and empowering change by developing the skills to challenge existing structures and offering people-centred and supporting alternatives, making it possible for both organisations and the individuals within them to achieve organisational goals.

Steve says "I am able to bring a positive holistic approach to issues related to the social model of disability and independent living and I believe I can bring significant contribution to further develop policy and practice, ensuring wherever possible that unlawful discrimination is challenged and strategies are put in place to promote equality of opportunity and social inclusion. My knowledge as an experienced senior local authority manager and disability consultant provides me with the ability to develop and support disabled people and organisations to deliver services within the framework and principles of the social model of disability."
