Caroline works freelance with Endeavour LTD, a charitable organisation based in Chesterfield to provide, fitness and football training, also helping to facilitate adventure activities as and when required. This organisation's aim is to encourage secondary school children and people aged 18 – 24 to become more involved in healthy activities and to promote fun sports.
As part of her degree she obtained work experience within ‘Active8’ which is an initiative that is run in conjunction with Hull City Council within the sports development unit. It provides varied sporting activities to youths and children with special needs and coaching for children. When the work experience came to an end Caroline was offered a job and continued her work within the project.
She is also an experienced session facilitator with St Michael’s Youth Centre working with children in activities including sports and recreation, cooking and drama.
Caroline gained a Foundation Degree in Sports & Adventure Management at the University of Hull and this covered sports coaching and the promotion of health & nutrition. She gained expedition skills along with knowledge of business management.
At Hull College, Caroline achieved a BTEC National Diploma in Sports Science which covered many aspects of fitness testing and training. She studied nutrition science along with in depth study of psychology, physiology, anatomy & biomechanics. She really enjoyed sports coaching & its promotion and this has shaped her continuation in this field.
She also spent two years in the Territorial Army, which she enjoyed immensely. Learning to work as part of a team under extreme conditions and stress now helps her to think clearly under pressure in all aspects of her life and work. Fitness training is a fundamental aspect of being in the Territorial Army and Caroline found this was one of the main draws of the job for her.
Caroline says "I find the freelance work I do with Endeavour LTD challenging and working with young adults who are keen to learn and do more adventurous sporting activities pushes my own knowledge and interest. On occasion I work for a lifestyle company that gives presentations and training around the country on lifestyle, mind and body. I am called upon to give presentations to promote the benefits of healthy living and instil a passion for this in people.
I have a young daughter and although for some people this may mean slowing down, to me it means becoming more organised. This quality has helped me progress in my career and I have always given more than 100 percent and I continue to do so."
Caroline has always believed in aiming high and striving to do her best in all things and believes that if you set your mind to achieving challenging goals you will succeed.
